Netflix’s next move

Netflix’s Jake Paul-Mike Tyson boxing match wasn’t just a hit—it highlighted the streamer’s growing reliance on live events to keep subscribers hooked. A recent Evercore ISI survey found that nearly half of respondents are likelier to stick with Netflix if it adds more live programming like the fight.

Subscriber price sensitivity is at its lowest in years, with only 26% saying they’d cancel over a $1 increase, down from 45% in August. Combined with high satisfaction rates and steady growth, analysts expect Netflix to raise U.S. prices soon, following recent hikes in Europe and Japan.

With live NFL games coming this Christmas and WWE’s Raw debuting in 2025, Netflix is doubling down on events to boost engagement. As co-CEO Greg Peters noted, adding value through fresh content lets them “occasionally ask members to pay a bit more.”
