📈 Succession season finale.
Rupert Murdoch names his heir at Fox and News Corp.
There’s no heart attack on a plane, no sale to a Swedish billionaire, and no cousin Greg. In real life, corporate succession is much more straightforward. Rupert Murdoch is stepping down as chairman of Fox and News Corp, handing the roles to – who else? – the eldest boy.

Rupert Murdoch’s succession story comes to an end – for now
Rupert Murdoch is stepping down as chairman of Fox and News Corp, handing over to his son Lachlan. It brings to an end decades of speculation about who would take over the business that Murdoch has built over the last 70 years. News Corp newspapers were full of praise for the outgoing patriarch. Funny that.
Lachlan is expected to maintain his father’s conservative stance, although he has reportedly criticized Donald Trump in private, saying that he disagrees with much of the way the former President behaves.
The question of who takes over at Fox and News Corp may be decided, but it could reignite after Murdoch Sr’s death. The ownership structure of the companies means that three of his adult children could out-vote the fourth. Another season, anyone?
